***HOMEWORK***

1) Make progress on completing your project based on feedback from class.

2) The PDF....

After a couple of correspondences with a museum interested in your work you receive the following email scenario:

Hi Amazing Artist,
As per our previous discussion we really like your work and would be interested in including something in our upcoming group exhibition. Could you please send us an idea of what you had in mind for your installation?

All the best,
Fancy Curator

There are many keys to the gates of culture but none more powerful than the .pdf attachment. Your assignment is to produce a .pdf that will be attached to your reply email:

Greetings Fancy Curator,
Thanks for the invitation, I'd be very excited to be included. Attached is an installation proposal, let me know your thoughts.

All the best,
Amazing Artist.

Despite the fact that these kinds of pdfs are standard practice, there is no exact format or set of rules that define exactly what they should include and how they should be be formatted. For the purposes of this assignment, however, your pdf should include the following (in the order specified):

1) The title of your project
2) Your name
3) The date
4) A 3 - 4 sentence written description of your piece. This should be in plain english (non-art english). (E.g. my work is about _______).
5) A 2 - 3 sentence written description of the physical installation. (E.g. This installation is composed of 3 wall mounted video monitors and a plinth containing a sculpture).
6) 1 - 5 images of your work. At least one of these images must be a rendering of your installation from Sketchup. A free trial can be downloaded here. A file of the exhibition space (including your location in the exhibition) can be downloaded here. These images should make Fancy Curator want to not only say 'yes', but 'yes, we'll find the budget for this!'

7) A brief timeline that discusses your production and installation timeline. The opening is on December 12th at 4pm, and the installation period begins 10am at December 11th. Make Fancy Curator feel comfortable that you've got this shit under control and are to be trusted.
8) A brief line item budget that includes costs such as: materials, production services, transportation, crating, framing, artist fee, deinstallation, taxes. etc. Keep in mind that anything you do not list you will have to pay for out of pocket. Be sure to include in kind items (e.g. 1200 euros - video editing (provided by artist), 300 euros - equipment rental (provided by Parsons)). Come up with a single total cost number for the museum. Fancy Curator is always going to want this number to be €0. The job of your pdf is to make them excited enough to fund €X.

In addition to presenting your proposal next class to Felicie, also email them as an attachment to me.
